cable guy!
so ive determined the cable company's goal in life is to screw me
how did i decide this?
so i call the cable company to come and install some digital cable. I figure its the new millineum, digital era, may as well keep with the times. so the cable guy comes, and i show him where i want him to install the tv.
as it turns out, there was no tv there, and this was a problem. he said it would cost extra to install the digital cable next to my computer. I'm like why? hes like "thatll cost extra"
so once again, im like why?
"thatll cost extra"
at this point, im starting to wonder if the man understands english
eventually i give up and let him install it next to the actual tv
about 2 weeks later i decide i need real high speed itnernet. why? because my mp3s take too long to download.
yes, it is worth paying twice as much money for internet so i can steal music faster. ive done the man, it works
and so i get the self install kit because apparently cable internet doesnt come with installtion. and im too cheap to pay $50.
it wasnt until after the kit arrived that i realized...... the cable guy screwed me. that rat bastard. I knew there was a reason i wanted a connection next to my computer. now, i take a look around and realize, whoever lived in this apartment had cable internet before. but the connection is in the next room. so i start tracing the wire to see if i can find a good place to split off of.
this is what i find. its in my roommates room. it gets there by going through the wall that divides our rooms!!
so i look in my room, sure enough its there, and its running by the door and over to the tv. now, i dont have tools to split this wire. wtf am i going to do? I end up spending half the day (partly because im incompetent). the end result, is that the wire comes from the tv, around my door along the floor, THROUGH the wall into the other room, then along the floor, under my roommates door, under my door, along the floor again! and finally into my cable modem!
and why the need for all this unnecesary crap? because apparently $50 for internet and $60 for tv just isnt enough for the cable company they need to find new and improved ways to screw me!
